  1. The representation and manipulation of pictorial data by a computer.
  2. the various technologies used to create and manipulate such pictorial data
  3. the images so produced and
  4. the sub field of computer science which studies methods for digitally synthesising and manipulating visual content.
computer graphics have become a very powerful tool for the creation of images and pictures. basically, it is a branch or field of computer science, which deals with generation of image an pictures using the concept of pixels.

Types Of Computer Graphics:-computer graphics is divide into two fields given below:

  1. Passive or offline graphics: this is a type of graphics in which the images on screen are created with the help of software programs and data structures. in this types of graphics the user have very small control over its image once the image is created. to change any image the user has to modify the program.
  2. Interactive or on line graphics: this is a type of graphics in which the images on the screen are created with the help of direct interactive devices like mouse, joystick etc. in this the user hence the direct control over its image.
Advantage Of Computer Graphics:-

  1. Image Reproducibility: in a technical printed in black and white, fully shaded three-dimensional geometry may not print well.
  2. Medical Visualisation: researchers are focusing on providing artistic algorithms, which can be manipulated interactively for real time visualisations of volume data. a good example is the visualisation of electric fields inside the human body.
  3. Communication of Abstract Ideas :the human visual system expects realistically rendered characters to behave realistically.
  4. Animation: when creating an animation it is necessary to focus the attention of the audience on the relevant actions and elements in the scene. a viewer inspecting the fine details of a photorealistics scene a scene, which make directing the attention of the viewers easier for an animator.
  1. 2D computer graphics
  2. pixel art
  3. vector graphics
  4. 3D computer graphics
  5. computer animation
