WEB SERVICES:-
A web service is an application that expose functionality to clients,providing some service or access to data in a controlled manner. a web services a programmable URI(uniform resource identifier ). In other words a web services is an callable using standard Internet protocol such as HTTP and XML. THUS any system that supports these basic standard protocol is capable of supporting web services.
web services are analogous to the distributed component object model(DCOM) objects that many Microsoft developer are used to working with the main difference,however,is that web services are accessed through standard based ,open interface such as SOAP and HTTP.
Limitations of Web Services
Imagine a personal information management(PIM) web service offering calender and contact features similar to those of Microsoft outlook.we are right if we say this exists today on many web sites, but we also know that each site has its own solution that does not let we share your information with any other site.
